Water Wise

When you're waiting for your shower to heat up, catch the water in a bucket. Use it to water your plants or flush the toilet.
Never, no never, did nature say one thing and wisdom say another.
~ Edmund Burke
Resources :: Recycling :: Composting

The average Israeli produces between 2.0 and 2.2 kilograms of organic waste products each day. More than 30% of that waste is capable of being recycled to create valuable organic fertilizer through a microbial decomposition process called composting. Unfortunately, however, more than 80% of that waste is buried, burned, or illegally disposed of.

We at Shvuat ha-Adamah/Earth's Promise, believe there is a better way to handle organic waste products. By separating organic and non-organic waste products at the source a full 100% of all organic waste products can be recycled and used to enrich agricultural fields, public parks, home gardens, and nature reserves.

In Beer Sheva Shvuat ha-Adamah/Earth's Promise is already making a difference. With the help of the residents of the Rambam synaguge, the residents of the Hey neighborhood, and the students of Ben-Gurion University's Medical School for International Health, in collaboration with Columbia Medical Center we have already recycled 4.5 tons of organic waste in just one year.
