The average Israeli produces between 2.0 and 2.2 kilograms of organic waste products each day. More than 30% of that waste is capable of being recycled to create valuable organic fertilizer through a microbial decomposition process called composting. Unfortunately, however, more than 80% of that waste is buried, burned, or illegally disposed of.
We at Shvuat ha-Adamah/Earth's Promise, believe there is a better way to handle organic waste products. By separating organic and non-organic waste products at the source a full 100% of all organic waste products can be recycled and used to enrich agricultural fields, public parks, home gardens, and nature reserves.
