Tu B'Shvat at the Rambam synagogue
Come join us at the Rambam synagogue as we celebrate Tu B'Shvat - "Jewish Earth Day" on Friday February 6th, 2009 at 1:00 pm.
The fun will start with a brief talk entitled "Demystifying Compost" in which Isaac Hametz, founder and executive director of Shvuat ha-Adamah/Earth's Promise will share some of his secrets to successful composting. Once we're all compost experts, we are going to unveil the community's Shmitta treasure - a year's worth of "black gold" (a.k.a compost). We'll use our bounty to coax some life out of the hard desert soil and plant low water use succelents to beautify the shul's courtyard. In addition, we are going to upgrade the current compost systems and start working on the foundations for our "no water garden".
If all that isn't enough to get you off the couch, then check your pulse. This party is going to be one for the ages.
Refreshments will be served - free of charge.
